Summer Sports

This summer Schaefer did Soccer and Football which went on at the same time.  So some days he had to go to one and then right over to the other.

He got better and better as the season went on.  He started out running behind the pack never getting near the ball and he ended right up in the pack getting closer and even kicking it every now and then.

I spend the whole soccer season trying to get a picture of him kicking a ball or something and this is the only one I got.

His coach was so funny, he would follow the kids around and hold on to them until the rigt moment then he would release them and send them to get the ball.  It worked... sometimes.

Schaefer seemed to like football more than soccer and he caught onto it a lot faster.  His team was made up of first and second graders, and Schaefer was the shortest by a long shot!

At one point I told him to grab the flag and as soon as they hiked the ball he grabbed the flag of the first person he found, would have been a good play if that kid had the ball.

Girls Soccer

The girls got to do soccer together.  It was so fun to watch them and see how differant they are.  kadrynn is really passive and doesnt want to have the spotlight where Melynn was all over the place and loved to talk to the coaches and show us how good she could do.

During the team picture I couldnt get kadrynn to go over and join the team so I took this one so we could remember when they did soccer together.

Melynn is so short standing next to all these kids.

By the end of this particular day Melynn was tired and done playing and Kadrynn was finally going.  They did have fun though.

My Little girl.......

My little girl with a haircut from cousin Taelin....

So one day Natalie and her kids came over to play and the kids were all downstairs watching a movie while Natalie and I where upstairs talking.  All the sudden Schaefer came up and said in a calm tone, "umm, Taelins cutting hair." So we looked at eachother wondering if she was pretending or doing it for real.  So we both head down to check  it out.  And we find the computer chair infront of the TV with Lots of blonde hair all over..then I turn my head and see melynn looking at me with a huge grin and she says, "Taelin cut my hair!"  She looked so excited about it.  I was staring at her wondering what my reaction should be and the first thing to come to my mind is Karen telling me to laugh.  Then Natalie finds Melynn and she gasps and grabs Taelin and takes her out for a time out.  When she came back in Ian had come back down and I am still looking at Melynn when I notice Natalie crying, and Ian is staring and says, "wheres the camera?? Take a picture."

So after reassuring Natalie that it was ok, I took Melynn upstairs to buzz her head.  I tried to leave it as long as I could, but Taelin got her pretty good.  So now she looks just like Schaefer.  While I was buzzing her head I was thinking how can I make sure they dont play with scissors again, so I started telling her she was going to have boy hair and not pretty girl hair anymore.  So of course, being my daughter, she was super excited about being a boy and not a girl anymore.
For days she ran around telling me she was a boy.  One day I put a princess nightgown on her and she looked at me and said, "Mom, I cant wear this, I am a boy!"
A few days later I had lauras girls for the day, they all spend the day playing princess.  I had to go to the store and they all wanted to wear their dresses.  When we got to the check out the guys looks at melynn and says, "oh, dude they got you in a dress!!"  I corrected him and told him what happened and he just stared open mouthed.

Taelin also got her own hair, not as bad but she had to cut it into a bob.  She also gave Brick some steps one one side of his head.  So it was a pretty exciting day.

Schaefers first day of 1st Grade!!

I cant belive how grown up my little boy is!!  I am starting to wonder how I am old enough to have a first grader.  Schaefer was so excited to go to school.  I think he was really excited because of his cool shoes that he got to pick out.
His teachers name is Mrs. Cheryl Frey and it turns out I know her, I ran track with her son in high school.  She does a great job and Schaefer loves school.  Before he left he kept talking about eating lunch at school and then going back to class.  When he got home the first thing he told us was what he ate for lunch.  He also gets to walk to school with his friends Sam and Brycen some days.  Most days he has to get a hug and a kiss from me and Ian, but on the days he can walk with his friends he runs out the door with out looking back.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCHAEFER AND MELYNN!
Since Schaefer and Melynns birthdays are one day apart we had a joint party for them.  We went to exchange park a few days before their birthdays when my parents where here for the Ulcer bike ride that Dad and Ian where riding.

We had so many people come, and I am so thankful for such a supportive family.  The kids had so much fun and where so excited about all their gifts.

Cakes this year where pretty...not creative.  Schaefer wanted superhero cupcakes and I did a flower pot  for Melynn.  They turned out ok but they werent my favorite.  But the kids liked them and thats all that matters right.

They ripped into the gifts, and I didnt even get to see any of it because I was cutting and serving the cake.  But they hit the jackpot.  One of Schaefers favorite things where his angry birds, and football gear.

Kadrynn just looks so cute in this picture I had to put it on.

Schaefer all decked out for practice.
And Melynns favorite present, her scooter.

We started playing Angry Birds for real when we got home.  We set up the blocks around the pig and then the kids start chucking the birds at it and see who can knock it down.  They love it...and so does Ian.

STAY-CATION

This year instead  of going to Luna with Ians family or going to Arizona to see Tara, we decided to stay home and spend time as a family.  We did a bunch of fun things.  Starting with the Zoo.

They where doing this Zoorassic Park thing and had a bunch of dinosaurs all over the park to look at.  Schaefer was so excited.  The only one he cared to have his picture with is the T-Rex and of course Melynn had to join in, but Kadrynn refused to get out of the stroller.

We got to sit in on the bird show.  And the coolest park was teh bald eagle, I cant believe how huge they are.

We also headed down to Goblin Valley with our friends the Terrys.

We stayed two nights and we had perfect weather.  The kids where so excited to play on the goblins and they ran like crazy.

Kadrynn looks so cute and the clouds in the back round make this picture even better.

Schaefer, Melynn, Benson, and Kate climbing in a little cave

We hiked all the way up to the top if the cliff and the kids wanted to carve their names into the rock that Ian carved his into some 10 years ago.

On our way back down the cliff.

Later that day we headed over to the slots, we made it pretty far but we started loosing the kids interest so we headed back.  I couldnt believe how much they all walked in one day.
We all had a blast, expecially the kids.  What kid wouldnt enjoy a trip to play in the dirt and throw rocks.  Hopefully we can do it a gain, but next time not in june, seven months pregnant.

Ians first Marathon

Ian is such a stud!!!  We had decided to run a marathon this year but then I got pregnant and couldnt do it, but Ian still did it all on his own.  He ran the Utah Valley Marathon which starts up the canyon in Walsburg and runs down to the Provo Tabernacle.

Unfortunatly my bad camera man skills came in and I only got these pictures during the race.  The race started at 6 am so we didnt even get to see him until around 8 am. with only about 3 miles to the finish line.  And then I forgot my camera at the end so my Mom is the one who has all the other pictures and I will need to get them from her to update this page.  But he finished in about 4 hours and 20 minutes.  Which was not as good as he was hoping and he is hoping to do it again next year, maybe with me.
